Illustration and Design Assets created for Health Union, LLC Alzheimer’s Community “If You Say "Remember" One More Time...”.
The tone of the Alzheime'r’s community is somber as they face the challenges of dementia as both a caregiver and a patient, realistic about the struggles and complicated emotions that accompany anticipatory grief, and passionate about pushing back against the stigma of feeling unable to talk about the disease.
In this article, an individual living with Alzheimer’s shares how the word “remember” has become their least favorite word to hear, and even triggering, because they of course struggle to remember things with their progressing disease.
For this concept, I wanted to depict their inner feelings of frustration, slight shame at their forgetfulness, and grief of losing their memory while well intentioned questions crowd them.
Below are assets designed for some of the methods where this article was marketed.
