DoorDash Stories
The Creative Production team at DoorDash reached out to me to create a series of illustrated and animated stories around 1 minute in length for their social media pages that were similar to the animated illustration work I had in my portfolio.
The team wrote the stories which I then translated into illustrated scenes with subtle animations to create an engaging story experience for their social media. The team aimed to exaggerate story elements with the concept and animation and push for fun and silliness in the visuals to create a dynamic, wacky energy for their social media.
The team created the voiceover, sound effects, and captions for social media, and the completed videos can be viewed on their Instagram and TikTok social media accounts.
A peak behind the initial process:
The team wanted to start off the initial line of the first video “Anddd I did it. I forgot our wedding anniversary!” with a dramatic, attention grabbing scene of a woman in an interesting and unique job setting.
We opted for a construction setting as that could provide many interesting props she could drop in her surprise, while grabbing the viewers attention.
For subsequent videos, the animations and writing start with a similar “hook” to grab the viewers attention.
We found our stride:
After the initial animation, the team wanted to create a signature “opening” style with a verbal & visual hook followed by a title-style illustration that would tie the animations together as a series and indicate to the viewer that these were a part of the “Real Stories” animations. Each title card illustration was animated in a subtly different way and changed to match the color palette.
Each posted video received more and more engagement on socials as we finished out the series of 10 animations.
